The officers belonging to the Young Turkey Party had agreed to shoot the Sultan at the' ceremony at Selamlik and proclaim his brother Reshad, but when the Sultan learned of the plot he forestalled the conspirators by granting a Constitution. A MISCONCEPTION. (Received July 31, 8.10 a.m.) LONDON, July 30. The report cabled yesterday, in which it was stated that the' Young Turkey party had resolved to maintain the bulk of its strength in Macedonia, because it is not without misgivings as to the Sultan's intentions concerning some of its demands, and that the Young Turkey Committee at Salonika invited the Ausfcro-Hungarian. and Russian civil agents to quit 'Macedonia, as the" presence of foreign gendarmerie officers was considered unnecessary, woi based on misconception.
