PRESENTATIONS
* At a meeting of the executive of the Christchurch Cycling and Motor Club last evening Mr A. R. Bamer, who for many years past has been a shining light in the New Zealand wheel world, was made the recipient of an oak and silver liqueur stand by the members of the club as a -token of the esteem in which he is held by them. The chairman (Mr J. H. Tompkins), in making the presentation, referred to Mr Barker's long and active career in wheel circles, stating that not only on the racing track had Mr Barker established an enviable record (having won dui*ing his racing career every New Zealand championship that at the time had offered), but in the government of the sport he had also established a most creditable record. Ho was still doing good service in this direction as a memher-- of the Council of the League of Wheelmen, whilst for the Christchurch Cycling and Motor Club Mr Barker had also rendered yeoman service. Although he had recently severed his connection with the club's executive a strong desire was felt for his speedy return. In response Mr Barker expressed his warmest appreciation of the generous action of those who had considered that his services warranted such a substantial mark of recognition. What he had done" in. the past, however, had really been a labour of love, his whole heart being thoroughly wound up in a sport in which he had met so many congenial companions. He was pleaded to note the continued prosperity and progress of the old club. He would long cherish the generous token of esteem, and still more thu very kindly feeling that had prompted it.
