CHRISTCHURCH. Monday, April 13. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Drunkenness. — Two statutory first offenders, for drunkenness, were each fined 5s and costs, in default twentyi four hours' imprisonment. j. Dismissed. — Thomas Bonis was charged with having thrown stones, and with having used obscene language in a publio road. After hearing the evidence for the prosecution the Magistrate dismissed the case without prejudice. Judgment bt Default. — In each" of the following cases, judgment with | costs was entered for the plaintiff by default :— C. Pannell v. W. H. Gibbs, £2; H. Berry and Co. (Mr Flesher) v. James Avenall £4 7s 9d ; same v. W. Wetherall, £6 7s lOd ; W. Pearce (Mr Alpers) v. R. A. Cockburn, £2 10s ; Oswald Coates (assignee of W. A. Cuddon) (Mr Flesher), v. Andrew Findlay, 8s 3d; George and William Cook v. A. Johnston (Mr Cunningham), possession of a tenement; Henry Herry and Co. (Mr Flesher) v. Fred Malorney, £33 j l7s lOd. j Judgment Summons Cases. — The Comi misaioner of Crown Lands (Mr Wright) i asked for an order on an unsatisfied judgment for £11 18s 6d against A. C Macartney. The debtor did not appear, and he was ordered t<> pay the amount, in default ten days' imprisonment. No order was made in the judgment summons case Mialing and Co., Ltd. (Mr Hunt) v. R. C. Zimmerman, for £2 8s 4d. Judgment fob Plaintiff. — J. F. Lloyd (Mr Cunningham) claimed £3 lls from M. Barren, as costs for cleaning a well. The defendant denied that he had engaged the plaintiff, who, however, stated that he had spent two days over the work with an assistant. Judgment was entered for the plaintiff with costa. Timbeb Trouble. — J. N. Bates (Mr Hunter) sued G. Ellingford (Mr Dougall^ for £8 15s, refund on second-Hand flooring timber purchased from the defendant for use in the construction of a hut at Parnassus. The plaintiff's case was that the defendant had guaranteed to send to Parnassus only sound timber. The timber actually sent had been worm-eaten and useless except for firewood. The defendant said that no guarantee had been given, and the plaintiff had known what he had bought. Judgment "was given for the plaintiff for £5.
