SOUTH WAIMAKARIRI RIVER BOARD.

♦ ■ j The South Waimakariri River Board met yesterday. The overseer reported that there had been several small floods in the river during the month, but no damage had been done to the upper works. It would be advisable to have the river bank faced with willows for four chains. The sum of £53 2s 9d had been spent on grubbing gorse on Lot 8, and £6 153 on Lot IS. Rabbit poisoning had cost £4 16s, and £10 had been spent on planting marram grass. In connection with the rabbit poisoning the overseer stated that the expenditure by the I Board had been successful, but tenants i had not been poisoning as they should ;have done, and proceedings would be taken against them. k The report was adopted.
