NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ASSOCIATION. T]i© Council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association met last evening; present — Messrs W. G. Atack (chairman), A. Donaldson, N. Goldsburg, K. Baesett, G. Reeee and A R. Kirk (honorary secretary). The Wellington Centre forwarded its. annual report and balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £9 12a 2d. An application was received from F. Truscott for recognition ac a New Zealand record of his time, 3min 26 l-sseo for 200 yds, breast-stroke swimming, at Nelson. It was resolved that the application could not be granted, as there was no previous record for the distance. The Auckland Centre wrote stating that the Thames Club had been affiliated , and the Waitemata Club would shortly be affiliated. The Canterbury Centre wrote asking for financial assistance from the Competitive Fund to clear off the deficit •upon the Australasia n Championship meeting. It was suggested by the chairman that the Canterbury Centre's proper course was to get the consent of the other Centres' to a grant. The whole amount of the Government grant available for distribution would not meet the deficit. A resolution regretting that the Association was unable to tender financial support, and embodying the chairman's suggestion, was carried unanimously. The Canterbury Centre's annual report and balance-sheet were received, the outstanding liabilities for the Championship meeting being shown as £20 ss. . An application was received from South Canterbury for permission to form a Centre. It was decided^ to ask for further information regarding the number of clubs in the district. The Otago Centre's report and bal-ance-sheet were received, together with a letter stating that the Dunedin Amateur Swimming Club had gone out of existence. Messrs K. Bassett and A. Donaldson were appointed delegates to the New Zealand Sports Federation.
