After providing for all lia- j bilities, the balance-sheet showed a j credit balance of assets over liabilities of -£351 18s lld. _ The committee's report stated that during tile past year breaches of award had been reported by the Cashmere, Culverden, Hakatammea, Glynn" Wye and St Helen's stations. These reports had been referred to the Inspector of Factories, and the Hakataramea dispute, on the subject of wet sheep, would come before the Court shortly, j Very few thefts of sheep had been reported during the year. The committee met in May last to decide what steps should be taken to protect members in connection with the citation of farmers and sheep-ownere by the Workers' Union. A special committee was appointed at that meeting, consisting of Messre J. C. N. Grigg. C. E. Calcutta D. Rutherford, G. B. Starky, C. N. Orbell, T. Teschemaker, D. D. Macfarlane and B. The Labour Exchange had a most successful year, 11 lo mon "being enabled to obtain work through its agency. In presenting the report and balancesheet tho president briefly referred to tho case brought by the Workers Union. The Arbitration Court having held that a dispute existed with this Union, and that unattached farmers could legally be joined in the citation, j this Union would have to meet the case in the Arbitration Court. He was o. opinion that this labour trouble had one rather regrettable result, as it lessened the sympathy and g?ood feeling which had hitherto existed between sheepowners and their employees. He urged on members the necessity of festennrr the export trade, by keeping up fnll stocks of the best class of ewes. He read statistics showing tho increase m the colony's general exports, and recommended, the sowing of nwre "catch crops," grass and turnips to keep the number of sheep in dTy seasons such as that recently experienced. He moved tho adoption of the report and balancesheet. The motion was carried unanimously. The following officers were appointed for the ensuing year : — President. M** E. B. Million ; vice-president.
