MINISTERIAL.

THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION. . The Hon. G. Fowlds, Minister of Education, broke his journey at Rangiora on his way from Cheviot yesterday, and this morning visited the Rangiora and Southbrook Schools, under the guidance of Mr D. Buddo, M.H.R. He was accompanied by the Mayor, Mr E. W. Relph, members of tho Borough* Council, and other prominent townsmen. At cneh school he was received by the chairman and members of the committee. He addressed a few words to tho pupils, and asked for a holiday for them. The manager of tho Technical Classes brought under hi» notice the matter of the erection of a technical school building, and the Minister premised to have a suitable plan prepared. At the High School, Mr R. Ball, chairman o>f the Board of Governors, drew attention to the need for a room , for experimental science, an increased endowment, and a new h<rase for the master. With regard to the first two requirements, the Minister promised to see what could be done, but said the Board could provide the house out of its ordinary revenue. After leaving the High School Mr Fowlde, with the Mayor and others, were- entertained at lunch at the Junction Hotel by Mr Buddo. The Minister left for Christchurch by the mid-day train.
