FAILURE OF A HAIR RESTORER.

A BALD HEAD IN COURT. This morning, before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M., Jems Mami (Mr Cassidy) claimed £3 from N. C. Baesi for failure to restore hair as agreed by contract. Mr Ca&sidy said that the claim was an unusual one. The plaintiff was a labourer, and the defendant, N. -C. Baasi, styled himself a " Practical Medicinal Herbalist." Mami had lost his hair, and Bassi had arranged to sell him his hair restorer. Baesi gave the defendant a letter, which read as follows : — " Jems Mami, I agree to Testore hair to its natural growth for the sum of £5, £3 deposit and the balance of. £2 when th© cure is 'affected.' Should I fail to restore the hair as stated I refund the £3 to you and the medicine free of cost. (Signed) N. C. Bassi." ■ Jems Mami said that he was an Italian, and Baesi had given him medicine and pills, but no growth of hair had resulted. Bassi had given him the agreement, stating that Tie would pay back the £3 if the hair failed to grow. N. C. Bassi, the defendant, said that the medicine had not been taken according to prescription. The restorer wa6 composed of "epiritue ammonia aromatic, spiritus rosmarini, spiritus gyce-rini, tincture cantharidis and aquae rosse." One tableepconful of the mixture" had to be rubbed into the scalp night and morning. Mami had not followed these instructions, and he had broken the contract witE witness. The hair restorer had restored hair upon a man and upon a beast. To Mr Cassidy: The beast was a horse. ' . . '• His Worship said that he would hold that it was all rubbish to believe that there was an infallible cure. When hair had gone the only cure possible was the wig. Judgment would be for the plaintiff.
