THE APPOINTMENT OF TEACHERS.
A THREAT BY THE PREMIER. [Per Peess Association.] WELLINGTON, March 15.. Mr Field, M.H.R., speaking at Levm last night, suggested that there was a flaw in the Education Act of last seseion. and hy it Education Boards were justified in their action witli regard to the appointment of teachers. He said it was not clear that it -was obligatory that Boards should submit six names ■ to the committees, and both the Wellington, and Wanganui Boards were making appointments under the ; old system. The Premier interjected: "As Minister of Education I shall refrain from allowing salaries to be paid in the case of any appointments so made." •' '■■— )
