THE SCENERY COMMISSION.
STATEMENT BY THE FREMILR[Per Peess Association.] WELLINGTON, March 10. 'Referring to the Scenery Preservation Commission in his speech at the banquet to Mr Field, M.H.R ; , night, the Premier said he considered there had been, too much delay in dealing with some of the reserves wnicn should hare been secured, with the reGult that the Government was involved in additional expenditure. The Commission had cost the colony £2500 in fees, travelling expenses, etc. ana it was about time to cut the painter and hand the pow* 'fi of the Commission over to the officers of the Land Department. The Commission was still travelling, and he supposed it thought that it was going on for ever, but it had mad© a mistake. Th* Commission comprised good men, but there had been too much delay. ■
