THIS DAY. [Per the "Stab's" Pigeon Express.) There was a large attendance, and entries were good in most departments. Fat Cattle.— The large entry of 242 head was in excess of the demand, and on cow beef, which formed a large proportion o¥ the yarding, there was a sharp drop in prioe. The best steers about maintained previous values) and secondary -quality declined about 10s a head. Per 1001 b the rates were, for prime beef 28e to 245, medium 20s to 225, and inferior 17s to 19s. Fat Lambs.— About 2200 were penned, being fewer than last week, but the quality was better. Competition of exporters was active, and prioes were fully maintained, every lot being sold for slaughter. Freezers sold at 18s\8d to 166 9d, butchers' lots lis 5d to 15s Bd, a few extra to 16s 3d. Store Sheep and Lambs. — About 3000 were yarded. The demand was good, and prices showed a slight advanoe on late rates. The principal sales were : — Wethers, 39 four-tooth at 16s 7d, 430 do. at 15s 4d, 450 do. at 15s 2d, 81 twotcoth at 15s 9d, 114 do. at 15s sd, 369 do. at 12s 7d ; ewes. 30 four-tooth at 18s 6d, 83 two-tooth at 17s Id ; 81 do. at 15s 9d, 300 sound-mouth at 12s to 12s 2d, 70 aged at 9s Id ; lambs, 58 at 18s, 84 at 12s 4d, 200 at lis 6d, 500 at 10s Id to 10s lld, 76 at 10s lld. Pigs. — There was a small supply of baoonens, and firmer prices were realised, ranging from 84s to 44s and averaging about 31d per lb. Porkers also improved in value, large making 28s to 325, and light 20s to 275, or 4_d per lb. Stores met a dull sale, large selling at 15_ to 20s, medium 10s to 14s, and suckers ana weaners 8s *to Bs.
