A GAELIC SINGER.
Un Tuesday evening at tiie Uanterbury Hall Miss Jessie Maclachlan will give tne first of her two farewell concerts. Those who had the pleasure of listening to the Scottish vocalist on th© occasion of her recent .appearances in Christchurch will not require to be told that as an exponent of the inimitable, tender and touching songs of the land of the heather, Miss Maclachlan is admitted to be. without an equal on the concert platform to-day. The Highland prima donna is an artiste of considerable versatility, and in addition to an extensive repertoire of Scottish songs in English and Gaelic, she has attained quite a leading position afi a singer of English and Irish national songs. The programmes provided by Miss Maclachlan' s company, although primarily Scottish, are cosmopolitan, the gems of English and Irish song always finding a place. Mr John M'Linden, a 'cellist with a European reputation, will assist at the concerts, and the accompaniments will be played by Mr R. Buchanan.
