PRINCE OF WALES'S BIRTHDAY.

THE HOLIDAY. Flags are flying to-day on all. public buildings and on many of the public schools and other buildings. The Government offices have been closed . all day, but otherwise there are no signs ot tlio holiday being observed. The shops are open, but xt is understood that a. general holiday will be observed on Monday.

[Pek Press Association.] WELLINGTON June 3. To-day is practically a general holiday, though many of the shopkeepers are keeping open to-day \ and will observe Monday. The weather is dull, and there is a light drizzle of rain. The chief attraction in the town is the football match North versus South Island. It will hardly bo a good game owing to the ground being sodden from recent rains, a fair number of people have gone to the Otaki races.
