CHRISTCHURCH. Tuesday, Mat 9. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Drunkenness. — Three .first offenders wore convicted of drunkenness, Two, a man and a woman, were convicted and discharged, and the third, a woman, was fined ss. Theft. — Meredith M'Causland admitted having stolen a gun, valued at £5, the prqperty of William Parker. Chief-Detective Chrystal said that the accused had hired a gun from the complainant on an agreement that he should pay 2s 6d a week for it. The accused had paid nothing for it, and had eventually sold it to a secondhand dealer. The 'accused had been convicted previously. The Magistrate inflicted /a sentence of three months' imprisonment with hard labour. An Unttsttal Charge. — Walter Halliday, licensee of the Wellington Hotel, was charged that on May 3, at Christchuroh, he had allowed liquor to be : supplied to Herri Solomon, a female aboriginal native, who was not the wife of a European. The case was adjourned for a week. Maintenance. — Charles Benjamin Bailey (Mr Hoban) was ordered to pay 20s per week towards the support of his wife, for whom Mr Cassidy appeared. — William Brown, charged with the disobedience of a maintenance order, was committed to gaol for a month. — i'John Landery was ordered to contribute 15s a week towards the maintenance of his wife. Mr Weston appeared for the plaintiff and Mr Donnelly for the defendant. — Mrs' Firth applied for a summary separation order against her husband, Henry. Firth. The request was^ granted, the wife to have the custody of the three children and the husband to contribute 25s a week towards the' maintenance of his wife and family. Mr Kjppenberger appeared for the plaintiff and Mr Beattie for the defendant.
