George Jacobsen, aged' forty years, employed in the tailoring branch of Messra Sirkcaldie and Stains, was found dead ia a street excavation, made 'by tho Corporation workmen. It is assumed that when on his way home last night, which was stormy, he did' not notice tho excavation, although it ww rtriled ,off and lighted, and (he fell in. There was about a foot of, storm water at the bottom, and he was drowned. At the inquest held to-day at Clarkville touching the d'eafch af William J. Hocking, farmer, East Eyreton, who waa killed by the overturning of ibis 'gig, at Bice's corner, the jury found that tße " deceased came % his death as the result of injuries received hy being thrown out of his gig on the road, wihen driving, at Clarkville."
