Captain Crawford, late of the Huia, and formerly oif the Stormbird, has retired- from, the Wellington and Wanganui Stearoi Packet Company, after fifteen and a half years' service, and intends settling in Auckland. He was last evening prese-nted with an address and a gold propeller -attachment for his watch chain by the officers and members of the crew of the Huia; The Governor of Queensland (Sir Herbert Chermside) and party, who have b-een on a visit to. the Hot Laikes district, are coming on south by the Wanganui River route., Sir (Donald and -^Lady Robertson, who have been spending some weeks at Rotonia, are expected to -arrive in Wellington next week oh their way' south. Sir Donald was formerly British Resident alb Mysore, Jfoaia.' .. ...... , . The Rev F.. Stubbs arrived from the north by the s.s: T e Ahau-this morning. Captain Millman arrived from Wellington by the s.s. Rotomahana this morning: Passengers for Hanmer to-day were Mrs Cecil Louisson, Mrs Earnshaw, and Mr A. Louiß_on.
