MOSQUITOES AND MUSIC.
The recent heavy rains iri\July, followed by hot wea.ther, caused a plague of mosquitoes" in tihe New York sur'burban distriots. Householders, driven frantic by tie bites, were obliged to fix wire screens to their' windows to ke*p out the pests." A scientific commifotee which investigated the subject has discovered that certain musical notes due to a great numlber of vibrations will cause mosquitoes to experience sudden and complete paralysis, and to die immediately. The employment al a powerful steam whistle is suggested.
