CHRISTCHURCH.. Thubsdat. September 3. (Before Mr W. H. Hargreaves, J.P.,. Mr J. Hamilton, J.P., and Mr J. Forrester, J.P.) x Disorderly. — Alfred "James Warren was charged with having behaved in a disorderly manner while drunk in Cathedral Square yesterday. He pleaded guilty, and the, Bench, after lecturing him upon the serious nature of his offence, convicted and discharged him. Resisting thk PoiiicE. — S. L. Graham was charged with having wilfully incited persons to resist tlveWlice yesterday. The case was that Graham, had endeavoured to obstruct the polic while they were taking the man Warren to the lock-up, and had incited others to help him. He pleaded guilty. Sub-Inspector Diwyer stated that obstruction of the police was becoming a v.cry common offence, and the police deeired to be protected from interference. A relative of the accused gave evidence as to his previous good character. The Bench stated that the accused was liable to a fine I of £20 or three months' imprisonment. It was a citizen's duty to assist the police. The accused's previous good character would weigh with tfte Bench, and he would be fined 1 40s, with the alternative of seven days ! imprisonment.
