FATAL GUN ACCIDENT.

♦■■ THE INQUEST. An inquest, was held at the Hospital thi» morning, before Mr B. Beetham, Corner, on the body of Herbert Inwbdd, who di«d at that institution on Tuesday from the re* suit of a gunshot wound. Evidence was given by Thoma* HortHi, j who deposed that on Saturday, -Oct. 18, he was in one of Mr Inwood's 'padddeks, when he saw the deceased pick up hi« gun, cross some hurdles and fire several shots I at birds. When he was returning across the hurdles, witness hear-d the report of a gun, and looking round saw Inwood fall, the hurdle having apparently given, way | under him as he was getting over it. H6 was lying on the ground wounded witb the gun alongside him. Henry A. Inwood, a brother of the deceased, said that on visiting the injured man at the Hospital after the accident, he had explained that before crossing the hurdles he had 1 put the hammers of the gun down, but in Crossing a hurdle One of his feet slipped, and be fell across the obT stacle. hurting himself, the result being lhat the gun went off through the concussion with the ground.
