FARMERS' UNION.

[Peb Pbess Association I .] INVERCAKGILL, Sept. 15. At a meeting of the Provincial Council of the Farmers' .Union-it was resolved that the Government should be requested to instruct their veterinary surgeon to attend all cases when called upon, and institute a scale of charges to- go to the Government, that manures should be supplied on a guaranteed analysis, and that an analysist ehould be procured for that purpose, and also to analyse soils. It was resolved to protest against co-opera-tive labour on Government or local bodies works as too costly. It was resolvedtotake steps to secure the reduction of freight on live stock by rail to Canterbury, and' a shortening of the time of transit. It was stated that the freight was the same' as twenty years ago, namely, £6 per truck.
