[Per Psess Association.] DUNEDIN, June 24. The Arbitration Court resumed this mornnirig, when tie hosiery dispute was t^ken. Mr Hood, who represented the Union, stated tihat the trade was' io a deplorable condition in Otago, and asked the Court to set aside tie log, ajwl fix a rate of wages. It came out in evidence that <a girl, twentytwo years of age, who had Seen at the trade four yearsj^ only earned seven or eigi&t shillings weekly. Hia Honor expressed surprise at the girls continuing in the business. MrGiQman, for< the employers, con-> tended that practically the slowest girls in the trade had been, put into the -bos, and to base an. award upon their evidence would ba ridiculous. The employers were cf opinion that they could not raise prices, and compete with the imported article. It was doubtful if the industry could 1 be kept alive even if they paid the rates of the log bow submitted to the Court
