♦ The following were' passengers for the sou^h, by this morning's express: — Messrs A., C: WUson, F. Cross, H. Maddison, H. D.-Weir, J. Ivess, A. Lowry and W. E. D. B\sh'op and the Rev A. Patterson. The election of a representative of the school committees to a seat on the Board of Governors of Canterbury College' has resulted in the return of Mr C. H. A. T. Qpie. Mr Justice Denniston is at present in Dunedin. He will be in Chris tchurch on Friday, and it is possible that he will hold » sitting of the Court her© on that day. Later on he will go to Wellington, and then to the West Coast. Mr Dennett, of Hastings, has denied the statement that he will be a candidate for the Hawke's Bay seat at the general election. Captain Russell; the present representative of the electorate^ states that he will seek re-election. Mr -Harris, a. well-known resident of Nelson, dorpped dead in 1 the street this morning. He had been in his usual state of hcaltli lately. Heart disease was the cause of death. An inquest will be held. • ■
