Considerable interest centres in a cargo of blue»gum timber which has arrived at Dover from Australia for the National Harbour Works. Mosfe of the balks weigh as much as ten tons each, and range between 100 ft and 200 ft long. This (timber has been oho^en for piling work, owing to the fact that it will not float, so that, in the event of piles feting waghed away in heavy gales, they will go to the bottojn, and thus avert a danger to shipping.
