COMPENSATION FOR A BAD WEEK.

A repeat issue of "Moderb Society" contains the following :—-" A- forcible illustration has been, brought to our notice, wherein a locum tenens, doing duty for a resident practitioner, sued his principal in the county Court for a small balance owing to -him. Several letters from' the absent doctor, to his temporary substitute may well be reproduced for the enlightenment of those w_o place unlimited faith in professional probity. Hear him: 'I am sorry you have (had such a bad week! . .ao charge, the patients more, and put in second bottles and plasters, ointments and' lotions, wherever you get the least chance.' 'Again :- 1 found you gave a big six-ounce bottle to a child five years old, and the dose marked on it was one teaspoonful three times a day. Now you will see at once ihat we should never make a fortune at that rate. ' There would be forty-eight, teaspoonful doses in that bottle, and, taking three every day, and the: bottle costing one shilling, theSe -would last for sixteen days. Kindly remedy this. Give to a. child of that age a l_oz bottle, charge one shilling, and order a teatpoonf ul every two or three hours, so that they may come back the next day or the. day after. The six-ounce bottles are for adults, and .order one tablespoonful dose at least four times daily. You 'will see what I mean.'" !. J A
