JAPAN AND AUSTRALIA.
A NEWSPAPER'S WARNING. (Received Feb. 18, 9.55 a.m.) SYDNEY, Feb. 18. The Sydney "Daily Telegraph," dealing with the suggestion of the "Times" that Australia should consider legislatively the legitimate susceptibilities of Japan in con* nection with the Anglo-Japanese treaty, warns Australia against the likelihood of the 5 Japanese Government using the alliance to press fpr a modification of the : legislation excluding Japanese and the possibility of the British Government proving amenable to the pressure. It concludes : " The determination of the people of Australia has suffered na modification. There is no> possibility of their considering foreign siuscep-. Abilities to the extent of tolerating the immigration of coloured people."
