CHARGES AGAINST A GAOLER.
A COMMISSION OF INQX3TRY. [Peb PrbsS Association.] WELLINGTON, Feb. 17. Mr Haselden, S.M,. and Mr Poynton, Public Trustee, sat this morndng as Commissioners to inquire into the charges made by a prisoner named) Wilson against Warder E. Murphy, the officer in chaige of the Point Halswell gaol. At. the outset Wilson : bfegan> to read from a type-written document i which wag apparently a claim' that an inquiry should be madte into the wihole gaol adlmdnistrationi instead of merely into his own allegations. As the Comrndssioners refused to allow him to go on unless ibe allowejj them first to scan the paper Wilson refused to go further into the matter, and when called as a witness declined to speaik. Murphy was then examined in denial of the ! charges. x
