— - — ♦— The' "Twopenny Tube" justified its existence sot far as the public were concerned when the first train ran (writes the London correspondent of this journal). It has now, after six months' working, justified its existence to the shareholders by returning them an interim dividend of four per cent, Avith a prospect of increase. In half a. year over twenty mallion passengers, a tenth of whom were Avcrkmen at half fares, have glided swiftly an-d comfortably throughthe tube. Its feeders, the eleotric trams from Shepherd's Bush, added five thousand a day to tne tube travellers. The only complaint a shareholder had to make at the - meeting was as to the over-crowding at certain times. There is now only One body of Ihe public dissatisfied with the tube, th.3 householders, Avho are.. victims of its vibration. Tho company's chairman held oui. a hope for them in a modified engine, which Avais running so Ayell that vibration in future would be a negligible quantity. I . i
