DOMAIN BOARD.

. — « A meeting of tie Christchurch Domain Board' -was held 1 in the* City Council Chambers this morning ; present — -Messrs W. Jacques, R. Westenra, H. Pearce, B. P. Manhire, and R. J. S. Harman, the Hon C. C. Bowen and the Mayor of Christohurdh. The head gardener reported that large numbers of visitors had patronised the Domain Gardens during the Royal yisit. A considerable outlay would be necessitated by the erection of stands in the Park for the Royal Review, as the paths would have to be rolled and. things would ihaye to be cleared and adjusted. The Government stand had not yet been cleared. The Chairman said that the damage to the footpath, which had been used as a road, was considerable, and would necessitate the expenditure of about £50. A letter was read from the Secretary of the Royal Visit Platform Committee stating that the committee would be responsible for only damage- in connection with taking timber to the stands. It was decided, on the motion of Mr Harman>, that the Platforms Committee should be applied to for ■ £'30,- as its share of the damage done to the Park leading to the platforms. With regard to other damage, necessitating the sowing cfi grass seed and so on, it was decided that the Chairman and Messrs S. Weetman. and W. .Boag should be appointed a committee to inspect the parks and assess the damage done in connection with' the Royal Review and the encampments, the committee to report. The Chairman was authorised to obtain "the seed asked for by the gardener. Mr E. Tosswill, Jessee, wrote stating that grass had been damaged, and asked that there should be a reduction in liis rent accordingly. It was decided that the Government should be informed that claims would be made on it in. connection with damage. The iC&airman was authorised to attend to a request from the Model Yacht Club for permission to raise its pavilion about a foot and 'bring it forward <aboui sis feet. It was decided, to reduce the rental charged the Ladies' Golf Club to £2 10s a, year. It was decided to grant the application of <fche Polo Club, to ( be placed in the same position as lie cricket clubs in the South Park in regard to leases of grounds, as soon as the Polo dub's present lease expires.
