The s.s. Wakaiu arrived from Cheviot and Kiikbura last night. ™. , To-day fthe s.s. Tarawera arrived from Wellington a« 7-4i5a.ni.., asd the s.s, W.anaka. from "Newcastle via Port Chalmers at 0.15 a.m.
. The- as. Induna, which left the Bluff for Lyttelton th'ia morning, H to load oate, for South Africa on account of Messrs G. G. Stead and Co. and Messrs Friedlander Bios. So also is "the 8.8.- Tugela, expected shortly from southern ports. r The e.s. Tarawera went) into dock this morning for an overhaul. She is to resume- running on Saturday. The ship Beacon Hock, which 'had been lying in the stream for twenty days awaiting the result of a lawsuit at Home, resumed ncr greatly-interrupted voyage to Wellington at half-past 7 o'clock this morning.^ The vessel left Port Pirie for Wellington over nine months ago, and when- near her destination .•was driven co far out of her course that «he , made 'the coast of South America and put into Talcahuano. Having resumed her y voyage, she put into Lyttelton on June 21 last on account of shortness of provisions.
The Norwegian bsurque Urania, which was to have come to Lyttelton from Adelaide, has been re-chartered . to load coal at Newcastle . for a "West Australian port.
The barque Laira was passed by the Health Officer and berthed at the Gladstone Pier this afternoon.
Tbe Shaw.Savill and Albion Co.'s s.«. Walwera arrived from London via tire customary way port 3 and Wellington at 8.40 a.m. to-day. She has -2500 tons of • general cagro for Lyttelton, and! was berthed at No. 7 wharf. Captain Stuart is still in. command. He has with him the following officers :— Chief officer, Mr J. S. Smith; eecond, Mr S. T. Mostyn; third, Mr J. T. Soulouse; fourth, Mr A. K. Crabtree; chief engineer, 'Mr H. G. Paul; second, Mr R. Alexander; third, Mr Manard; fourth Mr W>. Tyler; fifth, Mr Limousin;/ chief refrigerating engineer, Mr J.'M'Qnegal; aecona, Mr T. I*. Winship.
