ICE CREAM BUSINESS, CATHEDRAL SQUARE.
TO THE BDI*TOB.
Sir, — I see that the Special Committee of the City Council repotted most* favourably on the application of Abdul Borham for an exclusive £10 license to vend ice cream in Cathedral Square only. But th 6 Ooundil, as "a whole, threw Out the recommendation. Why the Council did this I cannot tell. Nor can anybody else. The Council seems to have been very inconsistent^*- to say the least of it. The applicant's character is of the highest, as the . Inspector can testify. fie undertakes to supply to our ohildren a pure, wholesome, unadulterated article, as he has al>vays done, and which he is quite prepared to submit to analysis at amy time. Further than t*h*:«, he is now having built, at a great expense, a model ice cream cart, with all the best improvements, conveniences and privacy, and whioh must perforce be greatly appreciated by his numerous customers, b-ith* young and old. I, personally, hope that the Council, on the special report of, their Inspector, which 1 ask them to read( before decision, and with ths full facts before them, will see fit to reverse their d'2ci*idn. — I am, etc.,, A CHRISTCHURCH FATHER.
