+— ' . \ Colonel Francis is a passenger for Christchurch by to-day's express. Captains [Robertson and Willis arrived from Wellington by the s.s. Kotomaiiana this morning. At a special meeting of the Richmond School Committee held last evening Miss Jeannie Cardwell and Mr P. S. H. Warner were recommended for appointment as pupil-teachers. The Native Minister ('the Hon J. Carroll) and Messrs Fraser, M.H.R., Field, M.H.R., and Graham, M.H.R., were passengers by the Westralia, which arrived a* [Wellington from Sydney to-day. After the Methodist service at Broomfield on Sunday afternoon, the Rev T. Price, on behalf of ifthe oonigregatioin, presented Miss Bessie Perrott with a Itoautifully-ffiusteaited Bible, in recognition of her services as organist for the past eighteen! months. 'Mr Angus M'Donald, of Rangiora, who is now. in (his 104 th yar, has the distinction of (having lived in three centuries and in the reign of five British' Sovereigns. The old gentleman is still able to eat his porridge with a relish.
