CONSISTENCY.
TO THE EDITOK. Sir, — "Watchman," in a recent issue, pointed out Councillor Gray's inconsistency regarding his action in. connection with, the By-law Committee and the Hospital Board. Another instance of the same gentleman's inconsistency is furnished by the fact that he. was amongst those gentlemen who waited upon Mr A. E. G. Rhodes, requesting the latter to stand for the Mayoralty. On more than one occasion, a,t the inaugural ceremonies of past Mayors, Councillor Gray has advocated an insider of the Council, not an outsider, because it was necessary that he should have an apprenticeship of City Council affairs, so to speak. How does this falee notion stand with the present Mayor, or the gentleman that is now being asked to stand? I have always contended that it is not necessary ;to confine the choice of Mayor to. the Council alone, and the occupant of the present Mayoral chair has amply proved my contention. Mr Gray is not the only one who is prone to the sin of inconsistency. It is committed in nearly every local body we have here. Speakers say one thing, but their actions and deeds are quite the reverse.— l am, etc., BURGESS.
