RIFLE SHOOTING.
On Thursday a match, ten a side, at two and three hundred yards, was fired between a team from the liinwood Rifles and one from the Malvem Mounted Rifles at the Malvem range, and resulted in a win for the Malvem Mounted Rifles by 23 points, the scores being — Linwood Rifles 321, Malvem Mounted/Rifles 314. The following are the scores : — Malvem Mounted Rifles.— Trooper R. Seay, , 200 yds 22, 300 yds 21; Corporal Seay, 17, 12; Captain Rutherford, 23, 13; Trooper R. Colthart, sen., 18, 18; Sergeant-Major Wright, 18, 19; Sergeant Clare, 14, 14; Lieutenant M'Millan, 22, 19; Farrier-Sergeant M'Nae, 20, 19; Sergeant Rutherford, IG, 17; Lieutenant Weston, 18, 4; total 200 yds 118, total 300 yds 156, grand total 344. Linwood Rifles. — Private Cooper, 200yd3 22, 300 yds 19; Lieutenant Foster, 24, 18; Sergeant Gee, 22, 10; Corporal Taylor, 25, 16; Sergeant Douglas, 19, 14; Corporal Mercer, 21, 15; Private Treleaven, 21, 12; Private Delacour, 8, 9 ; Private Parsonson, 11, 6 ; Private Shann, 15, 14; total 200 yds 188, total 300 yds 133, grand total 32K The weather at Bromley on Saturday afternoon was the worst experienced for many seasons, the nor'-west wind not only tcame in gusts, and made good shooting out of the question, but blew the sand about in a way to make target work a most miserable experience. Under these conditions the City Guards fired their second competition for the champion belt add handicap prizes, at 200, 300 and 600 yds, with the following results: — Private Bentley 200 yds 31, 300 yds 26, 600 yds 22, total 79; ColourSergeant Ward, 21, 24, 27—72; Sergeant Meddmgs, 28, 24, 20—72; Sergeant Yates, 22, 21, 27 —70; Private Murphy, 26, 19, 23—68; Private Gebbio, 25, 19, 23— 67; Private Allard, 24, 23 18—65; Corporal Sandford, 21, 17, 21—59.
