The Sailor's Bend dredge underwent a irial successfully on Thursday, and it will be on the claim by Monday. A meeting of the Fourteen-mil6 Beach Dredging Company was held in Dunedin. on Wednesday, from, which the Press ,repre3entatives wore excluded, and tho meeting lasted till one o'clock on Thursday morning. The " Otago Daily Times" states that a motion was moved, the effect of which was that the meeting, having heard all parties concerned in the dispute, the whole matter be referred to a full meeting of directors for further consideration, so that some satisfactory decision might bo come to. An amendment was moved—" That .Mi- Ewhig had failed to-substantiate his charges against the Dunedin directous, .and that, as tho Board as constituted could not work harmoniously, Mr Ewing and Mr Donnelly b© asked to Resign." This amendment was carried by an overwhelming majority. It ,wa3 subsequently resolved that the shareholders had confidence in tho Dunedin directors.- ;•■... Tho Sandy Point dredge, which coat £13,000, and is one of the largest yet constructed, is. working smoothly and dredging on the portion of claim adjoining the Perseverance Company's property. At ,a meeting of tho Maori Gully Dredging Company held in Groymouth this week, it was decided to eroct a dredge as speedily as possible. Sixteen bores have been put down on tho Ninety-mile Beach from tho Eakaia to tho Lake EUesmere outlet, and prospects were found in each. The results point to tho conclusion that the gold is light and evenly distributed throughout the land prospected.
