SENIOR CUP.

MIDLAND v. UNITED.

There ivas only one game " at Lancaster Park on Saturday, owing to the Park having finished their game with Sydenham the previous week. The weather was perfect for cricket, and with the wicket in good order, it M r as anticipated that the Midland would succeed in making a draw of the game. Barry and Smith made serviceable stands with Cobcroft, but the last wickets gave little trouble. Cobcroft played a splendid innings. He again took few risks, and was just on the century when he got out. Smith gave a lot of trouble, but he marred hie display by a chance at short leg. Barry's was streaky at first, and Clark's fast bowling troubled him, as that bowler was apt \,o kick in a nasty manner. The last five wickets fell very quickly. The United had 141 runs to get in two hours, and every man who batted made runs, and made them well, bufc when the fourth wicket fell, when the score was just over 70, it seemed as if the United would have to change their tactics and play for a draw. T. D. Harman and Clark, however, put on runs quickly, and the former made the winning hit when there was twenty minutes to spare*. Mrs Hair provided afternoon tea, which was much appreciated by the players. The following are the scores : — MIDLAND. First innings 131 Second Innings. L. T. Cobcroft, o Frankish b Smith 95 J.
