CRICKET.

On Saturday a match was played at West Melton between the local club and a team representing Sydenham and Addington, and resulted after a pleasant game in a victory for the home team. West Melton, who batted first, made 135 (Robert Legg 34, W. Hill 21, C.'Legg 20), and Sydenham and Addington responded with 62 (W. Clarkson 20). Following on, the visitors were more successful, the last wicket falling when the total had reached 109 (T. W. Reese 40, Allardyce 16, Bates 11; not out) . Requiring 38 to win, West Melton, had scored 18 for tlie loss of two wickets when time was called. The match was consequently decided on the first innings. For the winners Richard Legg (seven wickets for 33 runs), H. Hill (five wickets for 42 runs), Robert Legg, F. Trickett, Gudsell and C. Legg bowled well, and T. W. Reese and Allardyce' were the most successful bowlers for Sydenham and Addington. After the conclusion of the match the ladies entertained the players at afternoon tea.
