UNCOMPLETED RAILWAYS.
A PLEA FOR BORROWING' [Pee Press Association.] AUCKLAND, June 15. At a meeting of the Chamber. of Commerce the question of railway communication with Auckland was again discussed. The advisableness of connection being made ■ was affirmed, and the Chamber unan'mously decided in favour of a loan being raised by the Government, provided that if was expended in' the construction of authorised but incomplete lines. DUNEDIN, June .ls. The annual meeting of the Otago Central Railway League was moderately attended. Mr J. A. Millar, M.H.R., Mr Sligo, M.H.R., and Mr Morrison, M.H.R., were present, while other members of Parliament sent apologies for absence. MiMillar suggested that the League should concentrate its efforts in getting the line completed to Clyde. At the present rate it would take twenty-nine years to reach Wanaka. The opinion of members appeared to favour this view, with the addition that if borrowing was indulged in thd full claims of this line should be pressed. Resolutions- were passed" urging members to press on the Government the urgent need for the completion of a new railway station at Dunedini the foundations for which have been laid for some fifteen years.
