THE PERTHSHIRE.
AN APPEAL TO ADMIRAL PEARSON. United Press Association — By Electric Telegraph— Copyright. SYDNEY, June 15. The Governor ibJas telegraphed to the Admiral, who is at present, in Perth, asking him to despatch one or more warships to search for the Perthshire. [Per Press" Association.] AUCKLAND, June 15. A report current in Wellington that the Perthshire has been picked up, as far as is known here has no foundation. [From Our Correspondent.] WELLINGTON, June 15. During the morning a rumouV was very generally circulated through the city that the Perthshire had been found near the Kermadecs, by a German vessel, and towed into Auckland. The Marine Department had no advices of the alleged discovery; and disbelieved the probability of any Ger- . ' man ship being found in those seas. It was also obvious -that if such an occurrence 1 had taken place telegraphic advices would have been received from Auckland. I merely mention this as an example of the rapidity with which an absurd rumour may spread and find credence.
