« — . — [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, May 27. The Law Society has forwarded this resolution to the Minister of Justice: — "In view of the fact that there are likely to be one or more vacancies on the Supreme Court Bench, the Council takes this opportunity of expressing its opinion that only members of the profession engaged in active practice in the colony, and who have won for themselves distinction at the Bar, should be appointed to the Supreme Court Bench.'*' Mr James Hunter, accountant, on leaving the "Otago Daily Times" to assume the management of the " New Zealand Times," was presented by the employees with a gold watch, arid a substantial cheque from the directors.
