!' The third meeting of this Society was held on Tuesday evening; in the schooliroom; the President (the Rev H. C. M. ! Watson) ; in. the chair. There was a' large ■ attendance of members and the. public. Mr T. Grook; showed • his magic lantern,* iUus-' tracing .two sides; of the -drink question, v\z., the evils of . the drink traffic and the ) benefits of total abstinence from 1 , child- 1 : hood; Mr Grook also showed pictures of the well-known story> entitled " Buy Your :own Gb.ecrjes.'l4:Puring., the '.interval seveJraLcame^up.- to the front' of. the -room and signed; • the ■ total- abstinence • pledge. Over forty have .signed since May 4, when the Bishop gave liis address. At the end of the meeting, the following resolution was carried ■ unanimously: — "That- the members of this branch of the Church -of England Temperance Society expresses its pleasure at the stand taken by his Lordship the Bishop of Christchurch on the ' no license' : and temperance question."
