From Observations Taken at 9 a.m. The barometrio readings wera. very even, — Auckland 30.06, Wenington 30.11, Chnstchurch 30.16, Invercargill 30.08- The winds were light and variable, and fine weatlier prevailed. The shade temperature ranged from 60deg in the north to -8 in the south ; Christchurcb 6a, Hanmer Springs oZ, and Bealey. 26deg. The sea was rough at Gisborne and Castlepoint, but moderate to smooth elsewhere. The barometer at Christchurch was steady. The coin known in Austria as the kreutzer ' has been withdrawn from circulation, and will not be accepted even by the Government after Dec. 31, '1899. The coin has been in existence since the fifteenth century, and took its name from the cross marked upon it.
