THE KHALIFA'S STANDARD.

It is understood ithat Lord Kitchener of Khartoum, when on his visit to Balmoral, presented to her Majesty many interesting relics of,, the famous fight outside Omdurman. The final destiny of the Khalifa's standard is not at present known, but as it seems to have been captured by the Soudanese troops, it is thought not improbable that it may: hang in the |Khedive's palace at Cairo. To British views, hdwever, a more suitable resting place for it would be at Windsor Castle,, nest King Koffee's umbrella, brought home by Lord Wolseley.
