TWO WALTER BESANTS.
It is perhaps not generally known that Sir Walter Besant shares his name with another man of eminence, but in an altogether different direction, namely, Walter Besant, F.R.S. The coincidence led most of the morning papers to congratulate Sir Walter, on Nov. 1, on the anniversary of his birthday. But it was the birthday of the man of science and not of the creator of the " People's Palace," whose natal anniversary falls on August 14. Moreover, while Mr Besant was born in 1828, Sir Walter is a younger man by eight years.
