MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
A special general meeting of the Motett Society was held on Monday to consider a proposal Yo register the Society under the Unclassified Societies Act. The meeting was held in the -practice-room in the Young Men's Christian Association's Buildings. Mr Humphreys, vice-president, presided, and apologised fnr the absence of Mr Recce, the president, owing to indisposition.- Mr J. Robinson moved and Mr J. L. Scott seconded— " That the Motett Society be incorporated under the Unclassified Societies Act, 1895, by the style and title of the Christchurch Motett Society;" Mr Bates, the secretary, in explaining the advantages of registration, said that is less than twelve months the active membership had increased more than threefold, and that the honorary membership had advanced from nil to tipwards of 150. The resolution was carried unanimously. The rules as read by the Secretary were adopted on the motion of Mr Bellhouse, seconded by Mr J. B. Sim, and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the Chairman. There was a good attendance at the quarterly summoned meeting of the Loyal Rangiora Lodge of Oddfellows last evening. Three candidates were initiated. P.P.G.M. Marshall and Past Grands W. Smith, C. W. Bell and M..Barrell were elected delegates to the Ashley District meeting on Oct. 8. The receipts were about <£120, and the expenditure .£132, At the quarterly meeting of the Pioneer Juvenile Lodge, four candidates were initiated.
