ROWING.
CURE ROWING CLUB.
The annual meeting was held on Tuesday evening, at the Mandeville Hotel, Kaiapoi, Mr W. E. Parnham being in the chair. The oaiance-sheet showed a credit balance of £10 18s 9d. The assets were £215 18s 9d, and the liabilities nil. It was decided to open the season on Saturday, Oct. 8, with a procession of boats and aquatic sports on the river. Four new members were elected, and Messrs Alfred Winterbourn and John H : ggins were elected honorary life members. The election of officers resulted as follows : — President, Mr R. Moore, M.H.R. ; vicepresidents, Messrs D. M. Marshal 1 , E. E. Papprill, W. E. Parnham, J. H. Keetley and Drs Murray and Parsons; captain, Mr W. Howie ; vice-captain, Mr W. K. Tomlinson ; secretary, Mr H. Parnham ; treasurer. Mr D. J. Donald ; committee, Messrs H. Driscoirand J. Johnson, with the officers ex offlcio; racing committee, the captain, Messrs Hume, Revell and Winterbourn ; auditors, Messrs P. Lynskey and A. E. Cpe : custodian, Mr H. Driscoll,
At a meeting of the committee of the Lyttelton Rowing Club, held on Wednesday night, arrangements were made for the annual meeting, which is to be held on Monday neixt. The committee was [authorised tv have the dressing-room at the shed painted and otherwise renovated. A number of 1 matters of detail were disposed of. A meeting of delegates from the Christchurch rowing clubs was held last evening, at the, Union Rowing Club's shed, to make arrangements for the opening of the boating season. • There were ipresent-rr-Messrs A. E. Craddcck (in the chair), F. L Cowlishaw, R. F. Crosbie and J. M'Donald. It was decided /to open the season on Saturday, , Oct. ' 8. The /usual prpgramme^Wits arranged, including the' procession of boats and scratch -races.- Some of the crews will be in fancy dress, and the " Darktown " crew will also make its appearance. - The following officers were ' appointed for the day : — Commodore, Mr J. R. Evans ; marshals, Messrs J. J. Collins and C. Allard ; starter, Mr F. D. Kesteven ; judges, Messrs F. Fuller and W. G. Atack. Afternoon tea will be provided at the various boat-houses, and a band will lie engaged.
