Fat Sheep — 'She entry- was largely composed of Otago ana Southland sheep, which, in the present scarcity of mutton, met a good demand. There was nothing striking amongst the local entries. A few of the neatest of the Southlands were bought for treezing, as also were some of the Canterbury eutries, including some prime merino, wethers. Butchers, however, were the principal competitors throughout the sale, lue^uently paying prices in advance of export value. Fat lambs. — A fair number came forward, and were well competed for at from 9s to 16s 3d, the most selling at from/ Ils to 14s. Store sheep were better represented than for some weeks, and there was a continuation of the demand for wethers and hoggets, while breeding ewes were not wanted. Lines of wethers sold at 10s 3d to 13s 3d, nnd odd lots 9s to 13s 2d j hoggets, good lines, 8s 7d to •9s lOd, and one line Ils sd, lighter sorts 6s 2d to 7s 7d; ewes in lamb, mixed ages, 6s lOd to 7s 7d, fourtooths 10s lOdj ewes and lambs 14s.
