ENTERTAINMENTS.

A very successful entertainment was given by the St Michael's Temperance Society, in the schoolroom, last evening, the Rev C. A. Fraer presiding. There was a very large attendance. The pro°rainme included songs fty Mesdames Amos and Rowe, Miss F. Kelly, and Messrs "Co lclough, Kelly and E. Clarke; a trio by Mr Kelly and Misses Kelly (2) ; recitations by Mr 3De La Mare and Miss Taylor? and a duet by Mesdames Amos and Rowe. Several excellent pictures were shown Mr W. C. Large being in charge of the limelight. A dialogue for several characters was also given. The entertainment concluded with the farce " Guy Fawkes," the principal parts being well rendered by Messrs F. Chapman, E. J. Clark F Coombs and Miss Whitta. . Miss Black played the accompaniments. An interesting entertainment under the auspices of The Mariners' Pride Lodge No GO, 1.0. G.T., was held in the Wesleyan Social Hall, Lyttelton, on Tuesday evening. The programme included a piano forte solo by Miss V. Bromley, a recitation by Miss E. Arnold, songs by Messrs J.. Bradley, W. Radcl'ffe and F. Lurch and Miss Maud Bradler. A violin solo by Master Riordan, and pianoforte duet by Mrs and Miss Bromley. Tho second part was a dialogue "I Won't Marry a Drinker," performed by Mesdames W. Owen and L. Scott, Misses E. Green and E. Ayers^ and Messrs W. Stewart, E. Foulds and H. Hewstone.
