[From Otjb Cokeespondent.] WELLINGTON, Sept. 22. Mr Graves, as representing the Ashburton Eacing Club, has interviewed the Colonial Secretary on - the . question of permits. Mr Carroll, I am given to understand, suggests that Mr Graves should see Sir G. Clifford, the chairman of the conference,and urge that a permit should be granted for the spring meeting on the distinct promise, that Ihe Ashburton Club will be re-formed before the season closes. Mr Carroll declines to take notice of the request of the Tinwald Club-to- have a race meeting on the Tinwald Course, once & year* as 'he cpnsidersrthat the linvrald body isnow out of court.
