The United States House of Represent-atives,-by a large majority, resolved in favour of the annexation of Hawaii. The Waikare, with the Australian mail from Melbourne and Hobart, arrived at the Bluff yesterday. Mr George J. Smith, M.H.R., will address the electors of Christchurch in the Choral Hall this evening. Mr Joyce, M.H.R. for Lyttelton, invites the electors to meet him at the Lyttelton Oddfellows' Hall at eight o'clock this ingIt has been arranged that Mr R. M'Nab, the member for Mataura, shall move, and Mr J.'O'Meara, the member for Pahiatua, second, the Address-in-Reply in the House of Representatives. Lord Ranfurly paid a private visit to tho Deaf Mute Institute at Sumner on Wednesday . afternoon. Yesterday he visited Kaiapoi and the Maori' Pa, and returned to Wellington last evening by the Rotomahana. The Government stectmer Hinemoa landed some 100,000 rounds of Martini ball cartridge at Lyttelton yesterday, which is intended for use by the volunteers, and replaces the 90,000 rounds recently returned as cf inferior quality. Mr John Fuller's Myriorama Company will give a sacred concert in the Theatre Ro)'al on Sunday evening, when besides an attractive programme of vocal items, myrioramic pictures depicting Melbourne, Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong will be shown. A great deal of interest has been taken in the pastime of model • yacht sailing since the Victoria Lake has been available for tlie purpose, and a meeting- , ha. been called for eight o'clock this evening at Warner's Hotel, co take- into consideration the 'question of forming a Model Yacht Club. The Premier delivered a political address to a crowded audience at the Opera House, last evening. He spoke for three hours, referring to tho various Liberal measures, and replying to Opposition criticism. He received a vote of thanks, and a motion expressing confidence in the Government was carried almost unanimously.
