Mr Lyne, speaking at Narrabri, said that if the Federation Convention Bill was adopted, it would mean civil war between the colonies. MELBOURNE, May 2. There was a rowdy Federation meeting* in the North Melbourne Town Hall, Messrs - Maloney, M.L.A., and Alfred Deakin being 1 the chief speakers. Mr Maloney hotly resented Mr Deakin'B accusation that he had packed the meeting with antiFederationists. He dared Mr Deakin to meet him outside, and dashed the contents of a glass of water in Mr Deakin's face. A general melee followed, stioks and urn* brellas being freely used. The police even* tually cleared the building.
